Honey took her time locating the table since Andre watched her like she might be on the menu. Her pale-lavender cocktail dress that sparkled around the scoop neckline, enhanced the red in her hair and the green of her eyes. Most of the time, she was mistaken for a petite, rough-and-tumble tomboy. Tonight, she emulated an elegante lady with the charm of a pit viper.

Her boss stood and held the chair for her. “You know the two women.”

She sat down and reached for the wine the waiter poured for her. “Of course. Dr. Cordova is a dangerous and sinister agent of a government organization called Enigma. One of the president’s pet projects. Or so I hear.”

“And Tessa?” he asked offhandedly.

“A smart woman when it comes to geographical conflict and cultures. She works for the university, as you already know. But when it comes to common sense, she doesn’t have enough to come in out of the rain.”

He remembered running in the rain with her and thought her laughter sounded magical.

She continued. “Too trusting and not a clue when it comes to reading people. Why else would she have befriended me? It won’t be as difficult to isolate and influence her as you hoped. However, Captain Hunter is extremely protective and possessive when it comes to her. I’ve run into him before. He’s a dangerous man.”

“Can you handle him and what we’ve discussed?”

She reached over and laid a cool hand on the top of his, drawing his frosty gaze downward. “You’d be surprised at what I can do, Monsieur Vion.” She smiled, withdrew her hand then took another sip of wine. “Shall we order?”
